Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) yesterday arrested five persons in connection with the murder of BJP Khordha Mandal president Manguli Jena on April 14.

The five accused are Ispat Maharana, Simanchal Badajena, Chandrakant Pradhan , Dibyalochan Gajendra and Prabina Dhalasinghray. All are residents of Nirakarpur police station area of the district.

Sources said the five accused had attacked Jena earlier on August 31, 2016. Besides, several case are pending against them at various police stations. The arrested are now being interrogated in connection with the incident, sources added.

Manguli Jena, BJP’s Khordha Zone-9 Mandal President, was allegedly shot dead by miscreants in Khordha town late on April 14 night. Two bike-borne miscreants had opened fire at Jena around at around 12 am when he was returning from the house of BJP’s Khordha MLA candidate Kalu Khandayatray.
