Alert! Heavy rain showers likely to batter Odisha for next 7 days

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is set to plummet the coastal state of Odisha in the next 7 days, as per the prediction of Indian Meteorological Department.

Parts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and  Mayurbhanj, are likely to experience heavy rainfall that will continue till the morning of Aug 2.

Similarly, heavy rainfall in Koraput, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur is likely between Aug 2 and Aug 3.

Spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely to occur in Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur between Aug 3 and Aug 4. Furthermore, districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Mayurbhanj will witness heavy rain during the same time duration.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall will lash Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Kalahandi, while intense rain is likely in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Balasore between Aug 4 and Aug 5.

Also, while parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Jajpur will experience heavy to very heavy rain shower, one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Sonepur will witness intense rainfall between Aug 5 and Aug 6.

Such weather conditions will are likely to prevail for next two days.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal on Aug 4 and Aug 5. Fishermen in deep sea are advised to return to coast to the coast by the night of Aug 3.
