Bhubaneswar, Mar 12:

Guess which video is going viral these days? It is the ‘Freagles of Bangalore’, with 2, 26,531 likes in Being Indian, till date and still counting. The lovely girl who has directed this short film is Ankita Kumar from the Steel City of Rourkela.

Daughter of Ramendra and Madhavi Kumar, Ankita is making waves  in the virtual world with her video on 64  rescued Beagles. A topper of +2 Arts in Odisha, she has completed her Diploma in Film making from St. Xavier's Institute of Communication, Mumbai.

She now works with her friend Juhi in the Blackpepperstudio.com, a production house in Bengaluru. Ankita has successfully directed the short film, ‘Freagles of Banglore’, for the Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) recently. The story is based on 64 Beagles (a breed of dogs), aged seven to eight years, leading miserable imprisoned lives inside small cages of a testing laboratory in Bengaluru.

This short film portrays how they react to freedom from the hellhole to a world of love. Beagles by nature require long frequent walks and a fenced yard where they can stretch their legs off-leash. The 64 rescued dogs had never seen sunlight, nor had pranced about on grassland; they did not know what a pat was and had never licked the face of a pet lover.

Fortunately for these unfortunate dogs, CUPA came as angels of rescue and undertook the responsibility of rescuing and finding homes for them. Of course there was no dearth in finding loving homes for these cute canines. After being thoroughly vetted, the dogs were handed over to the proud owners.
