Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Odisha capital here yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Sulochana Das of Tirtol area in Jagatsinghpur district. Sulochana was found hanging in her rented room in Badagada area of the city here.

The Commissionerate Police today launched a probe into the incident after receiving a complaint in this regard from the deceased’s family.

Sulochana was reportedly working as a bar girl and staying with her male friend in a rented room for last several days.

As per reports, Sulochana’s male friend informed the incident to her elder sister over phone around the noon yesterday.

Sulochana’s male friend reportedly went incommunicado after informing the incident to her family members.

Sulochana’s family claimed that many empty liquor bottles were found from her room. They also alleged that Sulochana had been killed by someone.

The police seized the body and sent it for postmortem after registering a case in this regard. They have also recorded the statements of the deceased’s family members and quizzed the employees of the bar.

The police will soon examine Sulochana’s call details to find any clue to the incident.
