Bhubaneswar: In a respite for those struggling to obtain Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate in Odisha after imposition of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act, 2019, the Transport Commissioner has allowed issuance of the certificates through offline mode till September 30.

Online issuance of PUC certificates will be implemented from October 1, official sources said.

In a letter to all RTOs of the state, the Transport Commissioner has mentioned that only 36 Pollution Testing Centers in Odisha have been authorised to issue online PUC certificate through VAHAN application, for which people are suffering as other existing authorised centres are yet to be linked online.

Notably, those driving vehicles without possessing a PUC certificate will be fined Rs 10,000 under the act. However, the Odisha Government has relaxed the norm for a month.
