Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a notorious burglar in the Odisha capital here and seized cash and jewellery worth around Rs 70 lakh from his possession.

The arrested burglar has been identified as Parsuram Giri of Sora area in Balasore.

The police seized Rs 21 lakh in cash, 700 gram gold jewellery, around 7 kg silver ornaments and two bikes among other things from the possession of Giri.

Giri has been booked in at least 21 theft and burglary cases at various police stations in the capital city here in last one year. He had been earlier nabbed at least five times in burglary cases.

Giri had allegedly killed his wife in 2006 and he has been involved in a series of burglary cases in the city here since 2013.
