Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of an elderly woman allegedly assaulted by a police official in Odisha's Puri district, another such incident has come to fore, this time in the state capital.

According to reports, a video featuring two girls, who have sustained injuries after allegedly being beaten by Nayapalli police here, has gone viral on social media.

However, the Nayapalli police refuted the allegations saying that a clash took place between two families over property dispute and several persons were arrested in this connection. The girls were injured during the clash, police sources said, adding that they had attacked two women sub-inspectors thereby injuring the cops.

A case has been registered against the girls under Sections 341, 294, 323, 325 and 353 of IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by the two sub-inspectors.

"An investigation will be carried out into the matter. Action will be taken against those found guilty," said Twin City Commissioner of Police, YB Khurania.
