Balangir: A man allegedly killed his wife in Deogaon area under Tusura police limits in Balangir district. The deceased, Anupama Mahananda, had been married to the accused for just 10 months.
Family alleges strangulation
According to the victim’s family, the husband allegedly strangled Anupama to death on Friday night. The couple had married as per Hindu traditions 10 months ago, and she hailed from Bagabhadi village.

Accused absconds after hospital visit
Family members alleged that after the incident, the accused husband took his wife to the Deogaon Community Health Centre (CHC), claiming she was in critical condition, before fleeing the scene.
Police detain three, probe underway
Police have taken the body into custody for investigation and detained three persons in connection with the case. A scientific team has also reached the hospital to assist in evidence collection.

Extra-marital affair angle under scanner
The victim’s family suspects that the crime was committed due to the accused’s alleged extra-marital relationship. However, police officials said the exact motive will be confirmed after a thorough investigation.
Speaking on the case, SDPO Saroj Kumar Upadhyaya stated that the investigation is ongoing and detailed information will be shared after the probe is completed.
