Bhubaneswar/Balangir: In a major breakthrough in the alleged kidnapping of a businessman from Balangir, the Balangir Police, with the assistance of the Commissionerate Police, rescued him from the Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The rescued businessman has been identified as Narendra Sahu alias Gunda, who is reportedly involved in the real estate business.

Following a complaint lodged by Sahu’s family, Balangir police launched an investigation into the alleged abduction. CCTV footage captured the incident and provided crucial leads to the investigators.

Sahu was allegedly abducted by unidentified miscreants late Friday night, following which his family approached the Balangir Town police station.

According to family members, Sahu spoke to his son over the phone after the alleged abduction but did not reveal his whereabouts or explain what had happened. He reportedly told his son that he would explain everything the following day before ending the call.

His mobile phone was subsequently switched off, raising concerns among his family members and friends.

As part of the investigation, police tracked Sahu’s mobile phone to establish his whereabouts. Acting on the leads, Balangir police, with assistance from Khandagiri police, traced and rescued him from the Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, identify those involved and determine the motive behind the incident.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
