Ganjam: A domestic dispute turned tragic after a man allegedly murdered his wife in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The incident occurred in Pochalundi village under Buguda police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Sunita Jena, while her husband, Manoj Kumar Jena, has been accused of the crime.

According to the woman’s family members, Manoj allegedly strangled Sunita to death using a chain following a heated argument. Reports suggest the couple had been facing ongoing domestic issues.

Sources said the couple had recently returned after observing the Baruni ritual, and everything initially appeared normal. However, on Wednesday night, a quarrel broke out between them, during which Manoj allegedly lost control and committed the act.

The incident came to light after the woman’s family members reached the village and alerted the police.

Acting on the information, police reached the spot today morning, recovered the body, and detained the accused. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s family has demanded strict action against the accused.
