Sambalpur: A family dispute turned fatal after a woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband in Redhakhol police limits of Sambalpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Ambika Mirdha.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place in Landimal village amid a family dispute. The accused, Charan Mirdha, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he allegedly shot his wife with a country-made firearm.

Ambika sustained bullet injuries to her left hand and chest and reportedly died on the spot.

Police are expected to investigate the incident and ascertain the exact circumstances and motive behind the alleged murder.
