Bhadrak: A prolonged family dispute ended tragically in Bhadrak district on Thursday when a woman was allegedly killed by her husband, who was also found hanging inside the same room.

According to preliminary information, the woman, identified as Sonu Bibi, was allegedly attacked by her husband, Sheikh Mustafa Raza, with a sharp weapon at their home in Nangamahala village under the Puruna Bazar police limits.

After allegedly attacking his wife, Mustafa Raza reportedly died by suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan inside the room.

City DSP, Bhadrak, Anil Pradhan said, according to family members, the room was locked from inside. The family members later forced open the door and found Sonu Bibi lying in a pool of blood, while her husband was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

On being informed, personnel from Puruna Bazar Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.

Sources said the couple had been involved in a prolonged family dispute and their relatives had made several attempts to resolve their differences.

The couple reportedly had a love marriage and had two daughters, aged one and six.

The husband is from Bhadrak, while the woman’s parental home is in Lucknow.

Police officials said further investigation would be conducted after the woman’s family members arrive in Bhadrak from Lucknow.
