M. Rampur (Kalahandi): A data entry operator at the Jagannath Kaushalya Higher Secondary School has been arrested on charges of seeking sexual favours from a girl student.

The accused, identified as Soumya Ranjan Tripathy, was arrested following a complaint and subsequently sent for medical examination before being produced in court.

According to reports, Tripathy had been mentally harassing the student, who enrolled in the school in 2023, on multiple occasions. It is alleged she was deliberately failed for not yielding to his demands.

The victim later approached the district collector with a formal complaint. Following the allegations, Tripathy was transferred to Belakhandi Higher Secondary School.

Taking the matter seriously, the M. Rampur Tahsildar and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) visited the student’s residence and conducted an inquiry.

Based on the Tahsildar's report, the M. Rampur police arrested the accused and initiated further investigation.
