Anugola: Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Special Squad and Anugola Town police raided a house displaying a nameplate identifying its resident as a retired police inspector and busted an alleged sex racket today.

The police raided the house in the Amalapada area and detained two women from outside the state, two customers and the house owner.

According to police sources, the team received information that an alleged prostitution racket was being operated from the house, which displayed a nameplate identifying the resident as “Kunj Mohan Swain, Inspector of Police, Retired”.

Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid and allegedly found two women from outside Odisha and two customers inside the premises in a compromising situation. The women were subsequently rescued, while the two customers and the house owner were detained for questioning.

Police are interrogating the house owner, who is suspected of allegedly facilitating the racket from the premises. Further investigation is underway to ascertain how long the alleged operation had been running and whether any other persons were involved.

The incident has also raised questions as the house is reportedly located only around 400-500 metres from the Anugola Town police station and the office of the district Superintendent of Police.
