Jeypore: Cracking the case of murder of a 19-year-old college student in Jeypore city, Town Police have arrested three persons and detained two juveniles.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jaga Harijan of Randapalli village, Dinesh Kumar Harijan of Umuri and Chandrakanta Harijan of Sundi Kebidi village. The two juveniles were detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
The 19-year-old college student, identified as Debashish Kishan Kuldip, was allegedly attacked and stabbed near a KTM showroom in Jeypore city on Friday.
According to police, they received information at around 11 a.m. that a college student had been stabbed near the showroom. The injured youth was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared dead.
A case was registered at Jeypore Town Police Station under Case No. 320/26, and an investigation was launched. A scientific team visited the crime scene and collected blood samples. Following the post-mortem examination, the deceased’s body was handed over to his family.
Police subsequently examined CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. The footage reportedly provided clues indicating the involvement of five persons in the murder.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid near Parabeda on Saturday morning and arrested Jaga Harijan. During interrogation, police reportedly recovered the knife and iron rod allegedly used in the attack.
Subsequently, Dinesh Kumar Harijan and Chandrakanta Harijan were arrested, while two juveniles allegedly involved in the incident were detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Police also seized two motorcycles and mobile phones allegedly linked to the accused.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances and motive behind the murder.
