Bhubaneswar: On charges of creating and sharing objectionable AI-generated content targeting Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on social media, the Cyber Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested another youth.
The accused has been identified as Manoranjan Pradhan, a resident under Bagedia police station limits in Angul district. He was apprehended by the Cyber Police Station following an investigation into the circulation of the content online.
This marks the second such arrest in recent days.
Notably, two days earlier, the Cyber Police had arrested Biswajit Sahoo, a resident of the Jagatpur area in Cuttack, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the media cell of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to ACP Suchismita Das, Manoranjan allegedly used artificial intelligence tools to morph and distort images of the Chief Minister. He then shared the manipulated visuals along with abusive and obscene language on social media platforms, in an apparent attempt to defame the leader.
Police said the investigation was launched after the objectionable content surfaced online. Using technical evidence and digital tracking, the accused was identified and taken into custody.
Sahoo arrested earlier allegedly posted AI-generated videos and other misleading content targeting the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister on his social media account, ‘Mr Biswa’, using offensive language with an intent to defame the leaders.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
