Niali (Cuttack): A family dispute turned violent when a 21-year-old youth allegedly attacked three members of his family, including a 14-month-old child, in Cuttack district on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Arun Lenka, allegedly attacked his sister-in-law, aunt and his 14-month-old nephew with a sharp weapon at their house in Kanpur village following a minor quarrel. The two women and the child sustained critical injuries in the attack.

Hearing the commotion and cries for help, villagers rushed to the spot and later informed the police.

After receiving the information, Niali police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Niali Community Health Centre.

As their condition was critical, they were later referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Police said the accused is absconding and an investigation into the incident is underway.
