Heated argument during party turns fatal
Puri: In a shocking incident in Puri town, a youth was allegedly murdered by his friend following a dispute over insufficient liquor during a late-night party. The accused, identified as Gobinda Paikray alias Kalu, has been arrested by police.
Victim found dead on sea beach near Dhobakhala
The deceased, Samir Barik alias Tapu of Bada Shankha locality, was found lying on sea sand near a slum in the Dhobakhala area on Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred late Friday night, created tension in the locality.
Liquor shortage sparks violent clash
According to police, the accused had invited his friends, including Tapu and others (Babula Behera alias Kala, Kuna Pradhan and Kuna Das), to a party after promising to arrange liquor. However, when he failed to provide the agreed quantity, an argument broke out, escalating into a violent scuffle.
Accused attacks friends with weapon and brick
Puri SP Prateek Singh said that the situation turned deadly when the accused attacked Tapu and Kala with a sharp weapon. Tapu was later struck with a brick after falling to the ground, leading to his death, while another individual sustained injuries.
Murder Weapon and evidence seized
Police recovered a blood-stained sword believed to be the murder weapon, along with a brick, clothes, shoes, and mobile phones from the accused. The swift investigation led to the arrest of the accused and cracking of the case.
