Bhubaneswar: Days after quitting the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, former Bargarh MP Prabhas Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday.

Singh joined BJP at its headquarters in New Delhi.

The former Lok Sabha MP had resigned from the BJD on April 8 after he was denied a ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Singh had submitted his resignation letter to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Singh had won the Lok Sabha polls from Bargarh constituency in 2014. However, the BJD had dropped Singh in 2019 Lok Sabha polls and given ticket to former minister Prasanna Acharya.

Singh was an aspirant of BJD ticket from Bargarh Lok Sabha seat for 2024 polls. However, the ruling party has picked Parineeta Mishra as its candidate for the ensuing polls.
