Dozens injured in Diwali celebrations across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Dozens of people, mostly children and youths, were injured while bursting firecrackers during Diwali celebrations across Odisha on Wednesday evening.

At least 25 people were reportedly suffered burn injuries while celebrating the festival of lights and landed at various hospitals in the state.

Six persons from Bhubaneswar were injured while bursting crackers and admitted to the Capital Hospital here.

Similarly, 12 Persons, including six critical while celebrating Diwali at various places in Bhadrak district. At Jamuna village in Balasore, four people have sustained critical injuries and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

At least two persons at Jagatsinghpur town were critically injured during Diwali celebrations. In Keonjhar, reports say two people, including a four-year-old child were injured.

In Ganjam, one youth suffered critical eye injury in Chopra village of Bhanjanagar while another woman suffered burn injuries in Aska.

Several fire mishaps were also reported from across the state overnight. However, no loss of life was reported.

Four houses were gutted at Bhanja Colony in Paradip town and two houses at Binjharpur in Jajpur district were burnt to ashes.

Similarly, a big house at Diesel Colony in Rourkela was damaged in another fire accident during Diwali celebrations.
