Paikmal: A man allegedly in an inebriated state killed his 5-month-old infant here in Odisha's Bargarh district.

The accused has been identified as Hemant Bhue. The incident occurred at Cherangajhanj under Paikmal police limits on Saturday evening.

According to reports, Hemant in a drunk state asked his wife for money to consume liquor. After his wife refused to give him money and argued with him, the irate man held his 5-month-old infant in his hand and slammed him on the road twice causing death.

The baby in critical condition was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

On receiving information, the Paikmal police reached the village and arrested the accused father.
