Bhubaneswar: Former Minister and Titlagarh MLA Surendra Singh Bhoi today resigned from the Congress party ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha.

Bhoi has resigned from the primary membership of Congress party. Besides, he has resigned as the president of Balangir District Congress Committee and member of All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Bhoi has sent his resignation letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The former minister has cited person reason behind his resignation from the Congress party.

Bhoi was associated with the Congress party for around 38 years.

Bhoi’s resignation from the Congress party assumes significance as he belongs to Balangir, the home district of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak and Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra.
