Bhubaneswar: Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee drowned while shooting in the sea at Talasari in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.

Banerjee (43) reportedly drowned in the sea while shooting for Bengali movie ‘Omm Namah Shivaya’.

As per reports, the Bengali actor and other crew members had camped at Digha in West Bengal to shoot the movie.

They reportedly came to the Talasari beach in Odisha’s Balasore district today for filming a sequence of the movie.

Banerjee reportedly drowned while returning to the beach after shooting on a small island at around 3 pm.

As per reports, the actor drowned after the boat met with a mishap during the return journey.  

Other crew members with the help of local fishermen rescued Banerjee and rushed him to a hospital at Digha. However, the Bengali actor died while being treated at the health facility, reports said.  

The West Bengal Police is in touch with the Balasore District Police in Odisha to gather more information about the incident.
