Bhubaneswar: A daily wager died after reportedly suffering heatstroke while at work in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

The deceased has been identified as Gabriel Munda (57) of Fakirmunda village under K. Balang police limits in Sundargarh.

As per reports, Munda collapsed while he and some other workers were sinking a tube well in the village in the afternoon.

The villagers rescued Munda and rushed him to a hospital at Lahunipara in a critical condition. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

On being informed, police reached the hospital and seized the body before sending it for a postmortem. The cops have also launched a probe into the incident.

Munda’s family, however, claimed that he died due to heatstroke. The postmortem report will reveal the exact cause of Munda’s health, said a police official.

In another incident, a school teacher reportedly lost his life due to heatstroke while on census duty in Sundargarh today.

The deceased has been identified as Anurag Ekka, an assistant teacher at Jarada high school under Gurundia block.

As per reports, Ekka suddenly collapsed while conducting door-to-door census work. Locals immediately rushed him to Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
