Nayagarh: In a tragic mishap, at least one person died while five others sustained critical injuries following a devastating gas cylinder explosion in Ranpur in Odisha's Nayagarh district on Sunday. The incident took place in Ranpur NAC area. All victims belonged to the same family.
The deceased was identified as Geetarani Mohanty (59). She succumbed to injuries today morning at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Doctors at the premiere institute are monitoring the condition of the other five family members who continue to be in critical condition and are battling for survival.
As per reports, the blast occurred suddenly. Locals rushed to the scene and helped shift the injured to nearby medical facilities, from where they were later referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Despite continuous medical efforts, Geetarani succumbed to her injuries.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about household safety and proper handling of gas cylinders. After getting to know about the incident, local MLA and Speaker Surama Padhy visited the hospital to meet the injured and their family members. She reviewed their medical condition with doctors and assured all possible assistance from the government.
Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the explosion, while locals remain anxious as the affected family continues to fight this life-threatening situation.
