Rayagada: Train services on the Koraput-Rayagada (K-R) railway line were disrupted after rocks and soil slipped onto the tracks amid heavy rainfall in Odisha’s Rayagada district.

The landslide reportedly occurred near the railway track close to Sikirapai station, between Sikirapai and Keutguda. The debris fell near Tunnel No. 29, blocking the railway line and bringing train movement to a halt.

An intercity train has been stranded at Sikirapai railway station, while the Hirakhand Express has been held up at Keutguda station.

Railway security personnel and engineering teams have reached the spot and are carrying out clearance and restoration work.

Heavy rain has also affected road connectivity on the Rayagada-Andhra Pradesh route. A large tree reportedly fell near Metu Kerada, blocking the road for around three hours.
