Deogarh: A man allegedly killed three members of his family in Odisha's Deogarh district late last night. The incident took place in Gariapali village under Kundheigola police station limits in Reamal block. The accused has been identified as Ramesh Garia (52).

According to preliminary reports, Ramesh allegedly attacked his wife Gul Garia (42), daughter-in-law Lipi Mahakul (24) and four-year-old granddaughter Ishani Garia with a hammer around 11.30 pm. All three victims died after the brutal assault.

The accused fled the spot after committing the crime.

A complaint was later lodged by the accused's son at the Kundheigola police station. After receiving the information, police reached the village and started an investigation.

The exact reason behind the killings is yet to be ascertained. Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the crime.
