Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned-BJP leader Arindam Roy today broke his silence over the allegations that he had threatened and misbehaved with the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Tangi in Odisha’s Cuttack district during a meeting a few days ago.
Roy issued a clarification and refuted the allegations after Tangi block chairperson Minakshi Das lodged a police complaint against him and BJP leader Abhaya Barik in connection with the alleged misbehaviour.
As per the complaint, Roy, Barik and a few BJP activists allegedly threatened and misbehaved with Tangi ABDO Shashwat Jena during the meeting.
“There is no truth in the allegations that I had hurled abuses at the ABDO. I had visited the block office to raise some issues concerning the locals. I only talked in a loud voice after the officials did not provide any satisfactory answers,” said Roy.
According to the BJP leader, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tangi had given him an appointment to discuss some pressing issues. However, the BDO was absent in the office when Roy and some other BJP activists reached the block office on the scheduled date.
“In the absence of the BDO, the ABDO talked to us but he did not give any satisfactory answer to the issues raised by us. That is why I just talked in a loud voice,” said Roy while refuting the allegations of misbehaviour towards the official.
Roy claimed that the authorities of Tangi block have been deliberately causing troubles for the supporters of BJP. “I had raised all these issues with the block officials. I have not done anything wrong,” he said.
