Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam scam in Odisha, the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) has asked candidates who applied for the Combined Police Service Examination-2024 (CPSE-2024) to update and validate their credentials.

In a notification, the commission directed candidates applying for Sub-Inspector-level posts to update and validate their credentials and application data online between October 15 and October 29, 2026.

The online facility will remain open from 10 am on October 15 until 10 pm on October 29. Candidates must complete the process through the commission’s official website, ousssc.odisha.gov.in.

The directive also applies to candidates eligible for age relaxation. The commission clarified the data updated and validated by candidates would be treated as final for all subsequent stages of the examination and related purposes.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a parallel money-laundering investigation into the alleged recruitment scam. On October 9, 2026, the agency conducted raids at multiple locations in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur as part of its probe into suspected financial transactions linked to the case.

The ED is investigating alleged money laundering and financial flows involving key accused persons, including Shankar Prusty, Suresh Nayak and Muna Mohanty, who are in judicial custody.

Berhampur Police initially arrested 114 candidates in connection with the alleged scam, while the total number of arrests by the Odisha Police Crime Branch subsequently reached 123.

The Odisha government handed over the criminal investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 22, 2025, citing the case's interstate ramifications, including alleged links to Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

The alleged scam came to light in September 2025, shortly before the Combined Police Service Examination was scheduled to be held on October 5 and 6. The examination was cancelled on September 30, 2025.

According to allegations, candidates were asked to pay as much as ₹25 lakh in exchange for guaranteed access to leaked question papers.
