Odisha govt initiates process for revival of Bijayananda sugar mill in Balangir

Bhubaneswar: The state government has initiated process for the revival of Bijayananda Cooperative Sugar Mill in Odisha’s Balangir district.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has recently approved a proposal of the Indian Potash Limited (IPL) to revive the sugar mill.

Prior to this, the Chief Minister has requested the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, for revival of the cooperative sugar industries in Odisha.

Moreover, the Cooperation Department of state government had made a formal request in this regard to the Managing Director of IPL.

According to the state government, the IPL has expressed its interest to revive the cooperative sugar industries in Odisha and suggested certain action points after conducting a preliminary survey in this regard.

The Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Odisha today wrote a letter to Balangir Collector to take the necessary steps for ascertaining the availability of encroachment-free land at the sugar mill.     

Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies (Administration), Bhaktabandhu Sahoo, will inspect the ground situation at the sugar mill for two days starting June 20.

The Registrar of Cooperative Societies has asked the Balangir Collector to extend the necessary assistance for identification of land under the ownership of the sugar mill and their encroachment status during the inspection by Sahoo.
