Malkangiri: Panic gripped the district court premises in Odisha's Malkangiri today after a bomb threat was received via an anonymous email, prompting immediate evacuation and heightened security measures.

According to reports, court proceedings were underway as usual when authorities received a threatening email claiming that explosives had been planted on the court premises. The message, allegedly sent in the name of a group called “Tamil Nadu Liberation Group,” warned of an imminent blast.

Acting swiftly, District Judge Shantanu Kumar Das ordered all staff, lawyers, and litigants to vacate the premises as a precautionary measure.

Security beefed up, intensive search underway

Police teams quickly reached the spot and began a thorough search across the court complex, with a bomb disposal squad deployed to support the operation.

Officials said that so far no suspicious items have been detected within the court grounds. However, security has been significantly reinforced as authorities continue to probe whether the threat was real or a hoax aimed at spreading panic. Police have appealed to the public to stay calm while the situation remains under close watch.

Meanwhile, normal court functioning remained suspended for several hours, causing inconvenience to litigants and lawyers. Officials indicated that proceedings will resume only after a complete security clearance is given.
