Bhubaneswar: Odisha has set a target of generating around 7,500 MW of solar power by 2030 under its renewable energy policy, GRIDCO Chief Project Manager Mahesh Prasad Dash said on Saturday.

Dash was speaking during a session on ‘Green Economy/Jobs on the second day of Earth Again Conference-2026, organised by the Sambad Group, in the capital city.

According to Dash, Odisha government had adopted the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy in December 2022.

He said the policy encompasses various available renewable energy technologies and aims to create employment opportunities through the development of new projects and investments. Once demand is generated through such projects, it is expected to create avenues for employment, he added.

“Solar power development in the state is being pursued through several areas. One emerging area is the integration of agriculture with photovoltaic technology, commonly known as agrivoltaics. Under this segment, the state has set a target of developing 1,000-2,000 MW of capacity by 2030,” stated Dash.

The state is also promoting rooftop solar installations. Both the Centre and the Odisha government are providing subsidies to encourage rooftop solar adoption, with a target of around 1,000 MW, he added.

Dash said the renewable energy policy seeks to facilitate investment and development across different technologies while supporting Odisha's transition towards greater use of renewable energy.
