Bhubaneswar: A Royal Bengal Tiger from Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district reportedly strayed into a nearby village on Friday.

As per reports, the tiger strayed into Khaparakhai village under Thakuramunda forest range in the early morning.

The incident triggered panic among the villagers, who immediately passed the information to the Forest Department.

The big cat reportedly entered into a house but fortunately there was no one inside it. Soon, the villagers locked the house to prevent the tiger to move elsewhere.

A team from the STR along with the officials of the Forest Department rushed to the village and rescued the tiger safely.

“As per preliminary information, a sub-adult tiger strayed into a village located close to the STR,” said Similipal Filed Director Prakash Chand Gogineni.

A few locals, meanwhile, claimed that they had spotted the tiger roaming near Khaparakhai village for last three days.
