Begunia: Tension prevailed after body of an unidentified youth was found lying on National Highway 57 in Begunia town of Odisha's Khordha district today. The incident took place near a brick kiln in Baghamari which comes under Begunia police limits.

As per preliminary reports, the youth is suspected to have died in a hit-and-run accident involving an unknown vehicle. Locals believe the victim was walking along the highway when he was suddenly struck, possibly at high speed, by a passing vehicle whose driver fled the scene without offering assistance.

Body found with severe head injuries

Passersby first noticed the youth lying motionless on the roadside and alerted the authorities. Eyewitness accounts indicate that he had sustained severe head injuries, with visible bleeding, suggesting a high-impact collision. After receiving information, police personnel from Baghamari outpost rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to facilitate investigation. 

A preliminary inquiry has been initiated, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased and trace the vehicle involved in the incident. The body was later shifted by ambulance to the Khordha District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem examination. Police officials stated that further details would emerge following the autopsy and ongoing investigation.
