Bhubaneswar: In a move to strengthen grassroots governance, the Odisha government is set to launch a new scheme, ‘Mo Gaon Mo Tahasil’ (My Village, My Tahasil). This will bring revenue services closer to the people in rural areas. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced the proposed initiative on Monday.

The scheme will be rolled out as the Revenue Department completes two years in office, with a focus on ensuring quick resolution of revenue-related issues at the village level.

Under the initiative, tahasil officials will visit villages to address public grievances on the spot, significantly reducing the need for villagers to travel to tahasil offices for routine services.

As part of the programme, senior officials will be appointed as nodal officers. They will tour districts, stay overnight, and interact directly with local residents to gather feedback and understand ground-level concerns.

Meanwhile, the department is also working on a new Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) policy, as the existing framework has completed its term. The new policy will be formulated after reviewing similar models adopted by other states.

In addition, the government plans to simplify the process of conversion of agricultural land in urban areas, making it more citizen-friendly.

The Revenue Minister said these measures are aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing transparency, and ensuring faster resolution of public grievances across the state.
