Bhubaneswar: Registration for OdishaSkills 2026–27, the state’s premier skills competition aimed at discovering and promoting young talent, is open until September 22, giving aspiring participants an opportunity to showcase their skills on a larger platform.

Organised with collaboration of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha; the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA); and the World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, OdishaSkills seeks to identify, nurture and promote young talent across diverse vocational skill areas. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is supporting the initiative.

Students currently pursuing or having graduated from ITIs, polytechnics, diploma and skill training institutes, as well as engineering and degree colleges, can participate. The competition is open to candidates aged 16 to 23 years.

The 2026–27 edition features 63 skills across six sectors, covering traditional, modern and industry-demand disciplines. Thirteen new-age skills have been introduced this year, including Aircraft Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Technology, Software Testing, Digital Interactive Media and Jewellery Design. Other areas include Bakery, Floristry and Smart Security Technology.

OdishaSkills opens the door to a larger journey – starting with the state-level competition, progressing to IndiaSkills, and giving successful candidates chance to reach the global stage of WorldSkills. Top performers at the national level may get the opportunity to join Team India at the WorldSkills Competition 2028 in Aichi, Japan.

The initiative is part of the Government of Odisha’s broader ‘Skilled in Odisha’ vision to equip young people with industry-relevant skills, prepare them for employment and connect them with opportunities in India and abroad.

With registration open until September 22, eligible candidates can use the extended window to register and take their first step towards showcasing their skills on larger platforms.
