Bhubaneswar: In a major relief for lakhs of social security pension beneficiaries in Odisha, the state government has credited two months' pension assistance, covering April and May, directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries. The disbursal of the June pension is also currently underway.
Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond said that pension amounts for April and May have been released simultaneously to 17,60,435 beneficiaries across the state.
The beneficiaries include elderly persons, widows, persons with disabilities, and others covered under various social security schemes. According to the minister, nearly 91.5 per cent of the total beneficiaries have already received the two months' pension in their accounts.
He said the remaining beneficiaries will receive their dues after the completion of banking and technical procedures. The government is also continuing the process of disbursing pension assistance for June and is taking necessary steps to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the funds within the stipulated timeframe.
The development comes after reports of delays in pension payments due to technical glitches in the concerned portal.
