Bhubaneswar: Polling for student union elections is underway across colleges and universities in Odisha with 6,891 candidates in the fray.

Of the total candidates contesting the elections, 6,533 are from colleges, while 358 are from universities.

Polling began at 8 am and will continue until 2 pm. Counting of votes and declaration of results are scheduled to begin at 2 pm and will continue until the counting process and announcement of results are completed.

Tight security arrangements have been made across campuses to ensure peaceful polling. Police personnel have been deployed on campus to maintain law and order during the elections.

The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected student representatives will be held on October 16 at 11 am.
