Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to attend a special programme at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district on June 20 to commemorate the BJP-led Odisha government's completion of two years in office.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed the participation of President Murmu and PM Modi in an official statement on Tuesday.

According to the CMO, a high-level meeting was held on Monday at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to oversee preparations for the programme and ensure the successful organisation of the event.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to make adequate arrangements for security at the venue, ensure necessary facilities for members of the public attending the event, and provide sufficient parking facilities.

Since both the President and the Prime Minister will be participating in the programme, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of organising the event in a smooth and efficient manner and instructed officials to give special attention to all related arrangements.

CM Majhi had earlier extended an invitation to PM Modi and others during his recent visit to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, he recently directed that the celebrations marking the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government's completion of two years in office be observed in a low-key manner in view of the prevailing situation arising from the conflict in West Asia.

The Chief Minister instructed that the celebrations would be observed in a simple and subdued manner, as the entire country is passing through a challenging phase due to the current situation in West Asia.

CM Majhi also emphasised that greater emphasis should be placed on highlighting the state government's achievements over the past two years instead of organising large-scale events to celebrate the occasion.

Notably, the BJP came to power in Odisha for the first time on June 12, 2024. They won an absolute majority in the 2024 Assembly elections, ending the 24-year rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
