Angul: Two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident after an unidentified vehicle rammed into their motorcycle in Odisha’s Angul district in the early hours of Tuesday.

Victims were returning home after attending Danda Nacha festivities

The incident took place in the Purunakot locality when the victims were returning from a Danda Nacha event. The deceased have been identified as Dhirendra Sahoo (23) and Purnachandra Sahoo (41), residents of Badasinghar village under Jarapada police limits.

According to reports, the duo had gone to Jagannathpur village to witness the festivities on Monday. While heading back home, their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle near Hingsrida village at around 1 am.

The impact of the collision threw both riders off the bike, leaving them critically injured on the roadside.

Upon receiving information, Purunakot police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Angul. However, doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.

The bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an investigation to identify the vehicle involved and ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
