Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly killed his wife over domestic discord and hid her body for three days in their house in Odisha capital here.

The incident took place at Tarini Nagar in Salia Sahi slum in the capital city, police said.

The woman was beaten to death by her husband after a brief argument around three days ago. The accused kept her body in a closed room inside their house, said an official of Maitri Vihar police today.

“Locals informed us about the incident today morning after foul smell emanated from the room. We rushed to the spot and seized the body. A scientific team has been called in to assist in the probe. The accused has been detained for interrogation,” he added.

The accused reportedly informed the police that her wife was consuming liquor regularly and picking up quarrels with him.

“The accused has confessed to the crime and revealed that he had killed his wife over domestic issues three days ago. He told us that his wife was spending a sizeable portion of his income on liquor,” said the police officer.
