Bhubaneswar: A 53-year-old man was allegedly stoned to death in Odisha’s Sundargarh district yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Suban Kanasaria of Kenapali village of Kaleiposh panchayat under Lahunipara police limits in Sundargarh.

Suban had visited nearby Gouduni Posh village on a work yesterday. After his dinner, Suban slept on the verandah of Thuru Dhibar, a relative, last night.

Thuru hit Suban’s head with a large piece of stone repeatedly while the latter was asleep on his verandah. Suban died on the spot.

On being informed, K. Bolang police reached the spot today morning and sent the body for postmortem. The cops also detained accused Thuru Dhibar for questioning after registering a case in this regard.

Notably, Suban’s wife had died a few years ago. His two sons are now working in Bengaluru. The 53-year-old was staying alone in his house at Kenapali.
