Bhubaneswar: A woman and her minor son were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their house in Ganjam district of Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Dali Nilabeni (35) and her son Dali Ritik (9) of Chudialangi village under Jarada police limits in Ganjam.

According to villagers, Nilabeni along with her son, mother-in-law and father-in-law were staying in their village home. Her husband is working in Dubai.

Nilabeni and her son Ritik went to bed after finishing dinner last night. However, they did not wake up today morning. Nilabeni and her son also did not respond when her mother-in-law knocked on the door, sources said.

Suspecting something unpleasant, Nilabeni’s mother-in-law informed the incident to villagers, who immediately rushed to the spot.

The mother-son duo was found dead on the bed when the villagers broke open the door. On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies before launching a probe into the incident, villagers said.

“A scientific team has been called in to assist in the probe. We will send the bodies to a hospital in Berhampur for postmortem,” said a police officer.
