New Delhi: The Centre has sanctioned an additional ₹500 crore to Odisha as part of a total ₹2,117.85 crore released to flood-affected states to support ongoing relief and response efforts.
Official sources said the ₹500 crore allocated to Odisha is an advance release of the second instalment under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for 2026–27. The first instalment has already been disbursed to the state.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from the Centre’s share of the SDRF to assist states affected by floods during the ongoing southwest monsoon of 2026.
To ensure timely availability of funds for relief operations, the Centre has released advance second instalments of SDRF to Odisha and Himachal Pradesh.
Among other states, Arunachal Pradesh has been sanctioned ₹44.55 crore as the advance release of the first instalment for 2026–27, while Assam has received ₹379.35 crore and Gujarat ₹500 crore under the same category.
Himachal Pradesh, which had already received its first instalment, has been allocated ₹193.95 crore as the advance release of the second instalment. Maharashtra has also been sanctioned ₹500 crore as the advance release of the first instalment.
Out of the seven affected states, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Nagaland have already received the first instalment of SDRF for the current financial year.
The Centre has also deputed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to assess the damage caused by floods. Assam has seen two IMCT visits in view of the severity of the situation.
