International Nurses Day celebration at Ashwini College of Nursing

On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2026 on 12th May, a grand “Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony” was organised at Ashwini College of Nursing with great enthusiasm and dignity. The programme reflected the spirit of this year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

Dr. Maya Gantayet, Managing Director, Ashwini Group of Hospitals and renowned Neurologist, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her address, she appreciated the dedication, compassion, and service of nurses towards society and motivated the budding nurses to uphold professional ethics, humanity, and excellence in patient care. She also emphasized the significant role of nurses in strengthening the healthcare system and encouraged the students to become confident, skilled, and compassionate healthcare professionals. We are sincerely regret that due to busy schedule Dr. Subrat Kumar Jena, Chairman, Ashwini Group and eminent Plastic Surgeon couldn’t join with us today as Guest of Honour.

Dr. Ritanjali Sahoo, Principal, Ashwini College of Nursing unfolded the theme of International Nurses Day 2026 and addressed the gathering on the vital role of nurses in strengthening healthcare services. She also administered the oath to the students, encouraging them to uphold the values of compassion, competence, ethics and commitment in their professional journey.

A special highlight of the programme was the ceremonial lamp-lighting session, where the Chief Guest and Principal handed over the lights to the students, symbolizing the transfer of knowledge, care and humanitarian service to the future generation of nurses.

The programme witnessed the presence of faculty members, nursing students and staff members of the institution. Cultural performances and motivational messages further added charm to the event.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, The event concluded with a message of dedication towards quality patient care and the strengthening of the nursing profession in society.
