Bhubaneswar: Shri Sudhansu Mohan Samal, IAS, Managing Director, Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. (OMC), visited OMC’s Chrome Zone at Kaliapani and outlined a focused roadmap to strengthen sustainable mining, enhance value realisation and drive operational efficiency.
At the Sukrangi and South Kaliapani Mines, the Managing Director stressed on optimisation of overburden (OB) dump areas to improve stability and land use, along with strengthening of haul road infrastructure to enhance safety and efficiency. He also emphasised on adoption of sustainable interventions to ensure long-term operational resilience.
Moving on to the Chrome Ore Beneficiation (COB) Plant, he instructed officials to prepare a detailed action plan for capacity expansion and improved productivity. Directing teams to optimise processes and scale up value-added production through advanced processing, he underscored the importance of maximising resource utilisation.
Later during the day at the Ferrochrome Plant, the MD reviewed the performance of the previous financial year and the roadmap outlined for future growth of the plant. He reiterated the importance of sustainable production, optimisation of plant inputs through blending of ores from Bangur and South Kaliapani Mines, and time-bound expansion and modernisation to enhance efficiency.
The roadmap further reinforces OMC’s commitment to leveraging scientific and technological interventions to drive operational excellence, ensure environmental responsibility and contribute meaningfully to Odisha’s growth story.
Senior officials from the Head Office and Regional offices, including the Regional Manager, were present during the visit.
