Nor'wester rain affects train services in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall accompanied with thunder and stormy weather affected train services at various place in Odisha today.

Overhead wire has snapped at some places. Similarly, signalling system has also been hampered, official sources said.

The following trains were halted at different stations following heavy downpour:

58421 Angul-Puri Passenger at Bhubaneswar from 10.10 hrs.

07439 Tata-Kacheguda Special at Mancheswar from 09.40 hrs.

58413 Talcher-Puri Passenger at Mancheswar from 10.10 hrs.

58407 Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar Passenger at Barang from 10.03 hrs.

58416 Puri-Cuttack Passenger at Retang from 09.37 hrs.

58534 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger at Khurda Road from 10.53 hrs.

12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express at Tapang from 11.10 hrs.

12846 Bangalore Cant-Bhubaneswar Express at Nirakarpur from 10.45 hrs

58002 Puri-Santragachi Passengers at Delang from 10.50 hrs.

12815 Puri-New Delhi Nandankanan Express yet to start from Puri.

The following trains were cancelled:

58535/58536 Cuttack-Paradeep-Cuttack Passenger will remain cancelled from both the directions.

58436/58435 Cuttack-Bhadrak-Cuttack Passenger will remain cancelled from both the directions.

58434 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger will run up to Mancheswar instead of Cuttack.

58415 Cuttack-Puri Passenger will originate from Mancheswar instead of Cuttack.

58411 Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur Passenger will run up to Balugaon and will return to Bhubaneswar as 58412 Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar Passenger from Balugaon to Bhubaneswar.

Services of 58411/58412 Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur- Bhubaneswar passenger will remain cancelled between Balugaon and Brahmapur from both the directions.

58434 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger & 58415 Cuttack-Puri Passenger will remain cancelled between Mancheswar and Cuttack.

Train services on Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar-Puri route were affected as wires snapped and signals stopped functioning due to nor'wester rains, reports said.

On the other hand, many passengers experienced inconvenience at Bhubaneswar Railway Station due to water-logging at the station owing to roof leakage. Many of them remained stranded at the spot.

The capital city also witnessed water-logging in low-lying areas like Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar and Nayapalli. Similar situation was also spotted at Baramunda bus stand.
