Nurse Niharika murder case: Accused arrested after surrender before Odisha police

Jagatsinghpur: In latest development in mysterious murder of a staff nurse in Odisha, prime accused identified as Kishore Anchal alias Raja, who is said to be the deceased's boyfriend, surrendered before police today.

He was arrested after he gave in to the Biridi police in Jagatsinghpur district.

The investigating team can now get some clue in the case and many facts are likely to be revealed to the cops during interrogation of Raja.

Raja was absconding since September 13 after alleged murder of the nurse.

Earlier, police had detained six persons for interrogation in the case.

The body of nurse identified as Niharika Patra, a native of Bhingarpur village of Khordha district, stuffed in a sack was found on Biluakhai River bed near Nuapari area in Jagatsinghpur on Sept 17 morning.

According to reports, Niharika, who was working as a staff nurse at a private nursing home in Cuttack, was missing since September 9. A missing complaint in this regard had been lodged by her family at Madhupatna police station in Cuttack.

The family was suspecting that Niharika had eloped with her beau Raja, whose whereabouts were also not clear.

After the body was recovered from the river bed in Jagatsinghpur, the family alleged that she was murdered by her boyfriend.
