Bhubaneswar: BJP Odisha unit vice-president and Brahmagiri MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra’s mother Subhalaxmi Devi breathed her last today.

Subhalaxmi Devi is also the mother of late Congress leader and former Brahmagiri MLA Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra.

Subhalaxmi Devi’s husband and retired professor of English Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mohapatra had passed away in 2014.

The former Congress MLA, Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, had died in 2016.

BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, Sambalpur MLA and Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly Jayanarayan Mishra among others have expressed grief over Subhalaxmi Devi’s demise.

The Brahmagiri MLA is a descendant of Paika rebellion leader Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mohapatra Bhramarbar Ray.

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has picked Subhalaxmi Devi’s granddaughter and late Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar’s daughter Upasana Mohapatra as its candidate to fight the upcoming Assembly polls from Brahmagiri constituency in Odisha.
