Odisha capital celebrates 71st Foundation Day; Governor, CM extend wishes

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the election season and festivals like Chaitra Navratri and Ram Navami, Odisha capital is celebrating its 71st Foundation Day with much gaiety today.

The government offices, iconic buildings and key junctions of the city were decked up and special functions were organised to mark Bhubaneswar Foundation Day.

Governor Ganeshi Lal wished the denizens of Bhubaneswar on the special occasion of the foundation day of the city.

Speaking on the significance of the Bhubaneswar Foundation Day, he said, "The State Capital has been built on rich tradition and heritage. The place is the conflux of tradition and progress."

He exhorted Bhubaneswar people to make the State Capital a clean, beautiful and prosperous.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also extended his greeting to city people on Bhubaneswar Foundation Day.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, he wrote in Odia language mentioning Bhubaneswar as the city of 'culture' and 'temple' where the infrastructure has been developed by taking everyone on path of prosperity and maintaining its rich heritage and culture.
